What Are You Looking Forward to?

“What Are You Looking Forward To?”

Most people living in Michigan look forward to summertime. 

Kids love summer because there is no school and they have time to do the things they enjoy doing. Many teens look forward to going to the beach during the summer and having time to hang out with friends.  Many families look forward to summer vacations and camping trips! 

So, what are you looking forward to?  Me, personally, I am looking forward to 70–80-degree days.  I am looking forward to cookouts, pool parties, walks along the beach, and beautiful summer sunsets. 

Did you know God looks forward to things too?  He looks forward to people becoming his children – Luke 15:7 says, “there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.” God also looks forward to spending time with you!  That’s why he allows you 24/7 access to him through prayer.  That’s why when you go and pray to God the Father in secret, he rewards you (Mt. 6:6).  Our triune God also looks forward to the day when the bride of Christ (the Church) and the Groom (Jesus Christ) are united in heaven.  That’s why God throws a wedding feast (Revelation 19:9). 

What I’m trying to show you is – God looks forward to saving you, spending time with you, and simply being with you! 

May we look forward to the same things!  May we appreciate God saving us and may we look forward to spending time with God this summer and may we look forward to simply being with him for all eternity someday in heaven!

Just as God looks forward to being with us - May we look forward to being with God!
